Luminous Pyramids Quilt Full Online Class and Pattern
Make a scrappy, dimensional, glowing quilt design using your very lightest fabrics
Think all light-valued fabrics are created equal? Think again.
🌸 Get my tips on how to use the lighter, softer side of your fabric stash in this online class.
Make a scrappy Luminous Pyramids quilt along with me and learn some new skills along the way. In making this quilt, we will be using the power of color value to create a cohesive design using many different printed and solid fabrics. In my own version, I will be focusing on using the lightest fabrics in my stash and show you exactly how I divide my chosen fabrics into dark and light color value. The resulting quilt is a beautifully calming design (and who couldn't use a little calm design around us these days?).
You'll gain an understanding as to why some quilts can look flat and static, while others can look faceted, full of movement, sunshine and shadow. We'll walk through finding inspiration, then pulling fabrics based on that inspiration. I'll demonstrate how to see and understand light and dark color value in your chosen palettes.
We'll use this new color value information to lay out a quilt design with "movement" and a glow across the quilt.
Our quilt is based on the classic "Thousand Pyramids" quilt block. An essential building block for quilters, but not always the easiest block to learn. Triangles can be weird to sew together consistently! Never fear, in addition to our color value work, I will offer cutting and construction tips which ensure success.
Inside the classroom you will get the full quilt pattern, with all the math, instructions, and measurements to make a Mini Quilt (which can become a pillow), Stroller/Crib quilt, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King sizes.
Fine tuning how you look at your fabrics will transform your quilts. Learning how to understand color value in the fabrics you choose takes you beyond simply making quilts. You actually begin to truly design your quilts!
